it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently have a group of 23 fabulous second graders in a dual language classroom. They live in a low income, high poverty stricken inner city community in northern New Jersey. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom due to their socioeconomic status and their varying linguistic abilities. Despite this, they are ready, willing, and excited to learn! They tackle challenges and strive to do their best. They are resilient, respectful, and hardworking students.
My Project
Help me give my bilingual students their own personal use magnetic letters for use during phonics lessons and guided reading.
Having their own magnetic alphabet letters will provide a safe and fun way for them to build solid foundational skills while working in whole group or individual lessons.
We are slowly transitioning back into the classroom while following CDC Guidelines. The magnetic letters will provide safe hands-on practice while learning to build words and while learning about the letters and their letter sounds. During guided reading and phonics lessons, the students can manipulate the letters to make sight words, practice phonics skills, and spell simple to more complex words.
