My Project
Summer reading is critical to preventing the "summer slide" and helping students maintain the literacy gains they've made during the school year. I want to put engaging, high-quality books in my students' hands—books that excite them, represent them, and encourage a lifelong love of reading. "Amari and the Night Brothers" by B.B. Alston is the perfect choice.
This book combines fantasy, mystery, and adventure while featuring a smart, courageous Black girl as the lead character—something many of my students rarely see in literature.
Through Amari’s journey, students will explore themes of self-belief, identity, and resilience. It’s a powerful story that can help them see themselves as heroes in their own lives.
By funding this project, you’ll help provide a copy of *Amari and the Night Brothers* to each student for them to read and treasure over the summer. With your support, we can inspire a love of reading and empower students with a story that reflects their strengths and dreams.
