My Project
In kindergarten, reading isn’t just about learning letters and sounds, it’s about building a lifelong love of books, stories, and learning. One powerful way to make reading more meaningful and engaging for young learners is by pairing storybooks with plush characters that bring the stories to life. Giving students plushies that match the characters in their books allows them to form deeper emotional connections to the stories they read. When a child can hug the very character they're reading about, it turns reading into an immersive experience.
It encourages imaginative thinking, helps with comprehension, and makes abstract ideas more concrete for young minds.
Children begin to associate books with comfort, joy, and fun exactly the kind of foundation we want to build for lifelong literacy.
To make these reading experiences even more special, magnetic bookshelves can help display books and plushies in an organized, visually appealing way. These front facing shelves allow students to easily see the covers of the booksan important feature for early readers who often choose books based on visuals. When plushies are placed alongside the books on the shelf, the display becomes an inviting, interactive “reading corner” that feels like a mini-library just for them. It draws students in and encourages choice, independence, and excitement around reading.Together, plushies and magnetic bookshelves transform a classroom space into a warm, welcoming environment where stories come to life.
