This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading takes you places. My students are ready to go "places."

My third graders are kids who love to read.

They immerse themselves in books. Most of my students started kindergarten learning English and learning about school. They are truly amazing in what they have accomplished in just three or so years in school. My students are the face of the United States of America. One thing that all of my students have in common is their zest for learning. They are so wonderful in that they don't see the differences between themselves. Mutual acceptance abounds at our school. A large percentage of these wonderful students come to school to learn in English. They then go home and speak another language. Think about the responsibility of having to work on homework in English and in school, then go home and communicate with parent

My Project

Help my students with the complete Magic Tree House series. I moved into my current classroom ten years ago and switched from teaching third grade to teaching first grade. Since that time, I have taught first grade, first/second combo class, second/third combo class and now I am back to third grade. The classroom library books have been loved and read by many students. My students deserve to have the complete Magic Tree House series as this group is definitely ready for these exciting chapter books. These books will be hard to keep out of the hands of students as each reader will embark on an exciting adventure through time with Jack and Annie and the Magic Tree House.

By having a brand new set of chapter books that are exciting and at my students' reading levels, the reading scores will begin to swirl just like the "Magic Tree House." These books hook students quickly and before you know it, the whole series has been read.

And don't tell the students, but they actually learn some social studies and science along the way with Jack and Annie.
