This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Adding, subtracting, multiplying OH MY!!! Remember learning these basic concepts? My students need extra help learning basic math concepts. Children with Autism need hands-on activities/lessons to help them learn concepts taught to them.
My students range from kindergarten through second grade and are at all different levels.
I have 13 little brains to fill with knowledge daily. My class is one of two Special Day Programs for children with Autism at my school. My classroom consists of 13 autistic children. I have 2 girls and 11 boys ranging from kindergarten through second grade. They are all exceptional in their own way! Their thirst for life and learning is as unique as it is interesting. They never get enough. I love watching their faces light up when participating in the general education setting and in my classroom. They build confidence within themselves when they succeed, which just melts my heart. I love my students so much and want them to experience it all and have it all! It's the least I can do!
My Project
These materials will aid my instruction for all of my students. In order to teach them successfully they need to be taught at their individual levels. This can be challenging, but can be done. I differentiate my lessons and my students into groups of their needs and understanding. These materials will allow my students to practice what I have taught them in fun and unique ways. They will think they are playing, but in reality they are learning and having fun all in one! The materials that I have asked for will also aid in my ability to differentiate lessons for my students more effectively.
This project will help my students further understand math concepts taught to them.
These manipulatives and games will allow my students to have fun while learning and feel less pressure while doing so. My students feel pressured easily due to their disability, by having fun while learning allows them to relax and learn at the same time. I thank you in advance for any help you give to my wonderful students!
