My Project
The use of base ten blocks is almost a daily activity in my math classroom. Using Embrac in math, students must be able to understand numbers and place value. The base ten blocks allow them to manipulate numbers and get a better understanding of addition and subtraction with regrouping. What becomes a problem is when paper manipulatives are made, the students lose them, tear them, or throw them away. More copies are then needed, those copies then need to be cut out and laminated. This is a very time consuming process.
When the students are missing paper base ten blocks, they can not complete the work because they don't have enough paper base ten blocks.
It can be distracting when they do not have what they need to work, and they miss important instruction form either myself or other students. By having the class set of base ten blocks that I have requested, my students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning!
