My Students
As the youngest students in our school district these children have never had a "normal" school year. Pre-K is a year of tremendous growth. Academic growth, social, emotional, communication, and countless other important skills. Pre-K generally serves all different abilities in children. As children, age learning discrepancies become more apparent, they receive more specialized help. In my class, I try to provide the proper learning environment for all learners. Of the 3 main learning styles, kinesthetic learning embraces all learning styles by encouraging hands-on interaction with their world. My class is unique because all classes have varying abilities and personalities which makes them all special. However, I will say that my class especially enjoys learning, pretending, music, technology, art, STEAM class, and PE. They have amazing conversations. They are architects, doctors, nurses, moms, dads, mathematicians, and book enthusiasts. These children deserve the best education and school experiences that I can provide. They are the very foundation of our school. They must be treasured and enriched.
My Project
My students are in their formative years. Education should be fun and hands-on. Creating a lifetime love of learning now impacts the entirety of their school careers. Making the most of their joy and enthusiasm now guarantees lasting positive school memories. In the changing world that we live in children need to be immersed in the joys of learning as much as possible. Parents report the learning and fun children are experiencing at school flowing into family life at home. There is no better result than children carrying their love of learning into all areas of their lives. I want to give the students mobile writing centers that we can use to practice writing and drawing in small groups, or individually with children moving throughout the room completing tasks related to the skills they are learning. The write and wipe boards will be perfect for both activities. I am asking for paint in a different medium than we use presently. These paint sticks will allow children to practice writing and coloring skills while having the autonomy to create their own work to their heart's desires. I'm asking for Model Magic because it allows us to make pieces of art that will last for years to come. Children enjoy making ornaments and sculptures to take home and share with their families. Finally, I am asking for more Lego pieces and manipulatives. The pinching and twisting actions that are required to play with the Nuts and Bolts game, Number Bots, as well as, the balls and tweezer games strengthen fine motor skills, sorting, and counting skills. The LEGO pieces are not only amazing for strengthening fine motor skills they offer the opportunity for meaningful conversation, practicing social skills, and engineering in a way that to them is just fun!
