Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every student has a different style of learning. These manipulatives help me reach all my students and their individual style of learning. Manipulatives help me diversify my lessons.
My students live in a very low income area.
Our preschool program is a very intensive program to help them get a jump start on their educational future. They are enthusiastic learners and love to come to school every day. Any lesson I introduce to them the soak it up like little sponges. Although I know that manipulatives are a learning activity, my students just think that they are fun games. They love them and are so enthusiastic when it comes to "playing" with the ones we have.
My Project
As a teacher I have to have as many "tools" possible to make my lesson enriching and applicable to all learning styles in my classroom. That is why manipulatives are such a wonderful resource to have on hand. The lesson introduced is reinforced in a way that the student learns while having fun. For example the center I would create with the counting of the birthday candles. The center will be reinforcing their number knowledge while they are having fun creating a beautiful birthday cake for their friends.
Please help me bring these wonderful resources to my preschoolers.
All of the materials that I have requested are applicable to so many different "measures" that my students have to master by the end of the year. For example we are now working on learning how to write the letters of the alphabet. The letter writing manipulative's will be a wonderful resource for my students to practice their writing skills.
