Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic learners who enjoy coming to school and learn new and interesting things every day. They are curious and ask lots of questions because they want to learn more.
They see school as a fun and safe place where they can be challenged.
My students are smart and need engaging activities that will unlock their full potential.
My students love when I read stories to them and they love reading independently. They laugh when I change my voice or pause to create suspense. They also love when they get 20 minutes each day and choose their favorite spot in the classroom and we all read independently.
My Project
My students love reading chapter books. The series of books from “The Magic Tree House” is very popular among second and third grade teachers and students. With the addition of these books to the classroom collection, my students will be able to work with the teacher in small groups.
With these books, my students will have new and exciting literature to read and discuss.
My students will work on comprehension strategies and skills while enjoying stories that are filled with adventures. I have chosen these books because I need guided reading books at the M, N, O and P Lexile level. With this literature, I will be able to challenge my students to become better readers by focusing on the strategies and skills that are appropriate for their independent or guided reading level. I also choose these books because my students are interested in the Magic Tree House collection. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students become stronger readers. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in reading and this project will only help enrich their experiences.
