This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help me create a warm, homey, reading environment in my kindergarten classroom. Every classroom needs a place for students to go where they feel safe, unwind, and read a book or two. A cozy place where students can explore different genres of books and enjoy reading under a comfortable, colorful rug surrounded by pillows and bean bag chairs. Children are more likely to strengthen their cognitive development by engaging multiple senses. I would also like to supply my students with handheld dry-erase boards to encourage my more reserved students to participate.
Every student has a different way of learning, and I want to ensure every student is considered and heard.
I have been a bilingual teacher for over 18 years, I have a passion for teaching the kiddos new books and materials that enrich their engagement and love for reading. My heart flutters when they are sharing a brand new book with their classmates that they just found. It brings me immense joy to see students enjoy visiting the reading center. I push to have a variety of bilingual books, but having a carpet for the library would go a long way in making the students feel more encouraged to visit the reading center. The 'magical' carpet will create a fun and colorful space for them to sit and read in our classroom library. We also want dry-erase boards to enhance kinder learning and engagement for my more reserved students. My students will be excited to receive these items for our classroom! Children are the future, and simple acts like these can create a chain reaction in these children's lives, starting with educating the youth
