This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have no place to sit! The floor is hard and cold. We need a magic carpet to inspire us to read!
My students are 4 and 5 years and are in kindergarten in a high need school.
They are very active and eager children. Our school is new. It was built to relieve three overcrowded schools. We have limited resources and no carpet for our classroom library area.
My Project
Right now my students have no place to sit in the library area. It is important, especially for the younger readers to provide a special place where they can go read away from the tables. This can teach them that reading is enjoyable. and motivate them to read more. My students will be able to sit on a new carpet to read books. A magic reading carpet will inspire them to read together over and over. They will learn to become storytellers as they read on their very own special magic carpet. Building the love of reading in the early years is crucial to a child's success.
