My Project
Understanding magnets and their forces allows students to understand how so many things in the world work. Many of my students come to my science room never having played with magnets, therefor having no understanding of how magnets work. I want to create Maglev trains with them so they see how Science is real and is all around them. We are starting a new 3rd grade science curriculum this year, and I currently have no magnets for the students to explore with.
Future Engineers in the making!
This project will help them understand their world in an authentic playful way. They will manipulate the magnets into various projects, learning how the forces interact to move things. We will investigate poles, attraction, and magnetic force as well as real world applications of magnets. We will design challenges to model actual ways that magnets are used in their homes and beyond.
