Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are attending school for the first time in a newly opened flex room! This space is always full of items needed to support their academic and sensory needs, but it can appear visually cluttered and busy for my students.

When a student is feeling challenged and is experiencing considerable levels of emotional dysregulation, this may result in problem behavior that interferes with successful participation in the general education setting.

One way to help children learn how to self-regulate is by providing them with a clean and organized environment. I am requesting markers, and crayons so that items can be placed away in new pencil-boxes and out of sight for students. I will teach students where to access these items, and they can take them as needed and return them to their place. This will reduce visual clutter in our flex room and allow students to develop a sense of independence. We also request Kleenex Pop-up tissues to help keep our space clean and healthy!
