My Project
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, developed by Meta and Ray-Ban, are more than just fashionable tech—they have the potential to greatly improve the lives of blind and visually impaired individuals.
One of their most powerful features is the built-in voice assistant, which allows users to perform everyday tasks—like checking the time, setting reminders, or getting information—without needing to use a phone or screen.
This voice control promotes independence and ease of use.
The glasses also feature a built-in camera, which can be used with apps to read text, identify objects, and describe surroundings. For a blind user, this can mean reading menus, recognizing faces, or navigating spaces with real-time guidance. Unlike traditional headphones, the open-ear speakers let users hear audio instructions while staying aware of their environment—an important safety benefit for blind individuals navigating busy streets or public places. Live video sharing adds another layer of support. A user can stream their view to a friend or assistant for real-time help, making it easier to handle unfamiliar or complex situations. While the glasses aren't yet fully optimized for accessibility, their features already offer major benefits. With further development, Ray-Ban Meta glasses could become essential assistive tools, helping blind individuals live more independently and confidently.
