My students need a large rug so that we can sit on the floor to read, sing, play games, and play instruments.

My Students
Kindergarten, first, and second grade students love to learn about beat and rhythm by playing rhythm sticks on the floor. We need a carpet to play our instruments and also to gather for stories, songs, and games.
Our school is an AMAZING place.
Our school is so diverse. The neighborhood that surrounds the school is one of the major "entry points" for recent immigrants and refugees. Many students walk in the door, new to the country and the language. There are over 40 languages spoken by the students. Each student brings a new set of ideas and experiences. The energy and excitement is tangible when you walk through the door. The students bring so much joy and vibrancy to the music room, it's inspirational.
My Project
The ceilings in our room are high, the floor is wood, and when we play instruments, it echoes, and it is SO LOUD!!! I want a really big carpet to dampen the sound, and so the students can spread out and be really comfortable in the music room. We often use literature as a springboard for many of our music lessons. We need a nice, big place to gather while we read a story or poem. I want the kids to be able to sit together and sing or work comfortably. I want the kids to be able to play their rhythm sticks on the carpet without having to grab the crumbling, old carpet remnants we are using now.
A carpet will make the room more functional, comfortable, and will be used by all of the students in the school for years.
Help us make our music room vibrant, functional, and fun!
