Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a large, urban school district. The students in my school range from preschool to 4th grade. They include children with special needs, hearing impairments, and English language learners. A majority of the children who attend my school come from low-income families. My class for many of my students their first school experience and even though it may be remote I want it to be an exciting experience for my students. Through their experiences in my class, I lay the groundwork for a love of learning and education.
My Project
With the donation of Scholastic's Big Wide World Magazine we can provide our students with materials that can help them develop literacy skills (reading left to right), letter and number recognition, answering comprehension questions, along with science and social studies.
This magazine is great addition to our curriculum that we are teaching.
Through reading, following directions activities and the computer supplement activities and video the children will be provided many opportunities for learning. This magazine with be used by both our preschool in school learners and remote learners. The activities online can be used with our remote learners during independent learning time while the paper version can be used as a whole group activity with both the in person learners and remote learners.
