Help me give my students Scholastic magazines in paper and digital format to enrich their learning about science, social studies, and current events!

My Students
First grade is a magical year! The amount of learning that takes place in this one year is amazing. My students walk into our classroom each day with excitement in their eyes and an eagerness to learn! They are full of curiosity and soak up information like sponges. Their excitement to learn makes my job as a teacher incredibly satisfying.
The best part about our classroom is the diversity!
There are students from all socio-economic backgrounds and many different ethnicities. As a Title I school, we must work to meet the needs of all of those students. Our school creates a safe and accessible environment in which students can thrive.
My Project
I am so excited about the idea of funding this project for my students! Our school works very hard at teaching students to read with a purpose and to take a closer look at text features. We teach them how to ask questions while reading and make connections. These are valuable skills that they will use throughout their schooling and possibly their lives!
What better way to teach students to become better readers than by exploring relevant topics in Scholastic News and Science Spin?!
Scholastic makes teaching nonfiction topics to students ridiculously fun! The magazines are packed full of colorful photographs, interesting captions, and detailed text features. All of these components come together in one beautifully written, high-interest magazine that students love. Thank you for helping me give students this wonderful opportunity!
