My Students
Situated in a small town, our school is a Title I school with a high percentage of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our class is full of students who have multiple abilities and are working hard to overcome many roadblocks.
Each day when my students walked into our classroom, our goal was to immerse them in meaningful experiences, and now we are working to provide materials and experiences for students in their homes.
My students have a variety of needs that require sensory tools, manipulatives, and resources that are not readily available in homes.
My Project
These magazine subscriptions from Scholastic Learning will provide my students access to fresh, relevant, and engaging content. By varying the choices, my students will each be able to have in their hands a magazine that will be accessible to their current level and interests.
Scholastic Magazines are an enticing way to get my students reading, asking questions, and exploring content.
The nonfiction topics line up with our content standards and the magazines' layout lends itself to teaching nonfiction text features as students are reading and learning. Having magazines that meet this variety of needs will be a game-changer this year.
