This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school lacks the resources to provide educational materials to its students. I send out a material list to the parents or caregivers in hopes of students having the appropriate materials, but only one third come with the materials.
I teach the fourth grade in a high need community in an inner city school in New York state.
My students are a bunch of wonderful children that eagerly want to learn in a school district with poor funding. Given the proper materials, I know they will achieve magnificently.
My Project
My students need high interest reading materials so that their ability to read can come to life! Superscience is a magazines about science and would enable me to become more efficient in the delivery of reading lessons with a science content. My students currently sit in a circle on the floor pretending to read. High interest reading material would make them want to read.
My students would truly be elated to know that they each get their very own magazine once a month to read.
Even better it is in a subject they love! It is my hope that this will help motivate them to want to read more!
