Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, hard working, and in need of supplies to help keep them organized, engaged, and be enthusiastic learners. We are a Title 1 school, and these kids could use all the support they can get.
Our school is one of the few schools in good standing in our district.
We work hard to provide our students with opportunities to improve in academic as well as social/emotional development. Despite our families not having a lot of extra resources, they are loving, supportive and amazing participants in our school community. With your help, we can continue to provide these amazing children with everything they need to succeed.
My Project
Having a variety of magazines on hand motivates students to read. They get excited when a new issue comes in, and they love looking at the pictures.
Magazines are filled with articles that help students practice skills from all academic areas.
They use what they are learning about for real life reading. They gather information from maps, charts, photographs, captions, headings, and other text features that they are using in both reading and writing.
Integrating all of these skills is a great way to synthesize what they are learning, and the excitement factor of getting new magazines each month keeps them motivated and looking for the next opportunity to learn!
