Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is an inner city Title I school, kindergarten through grade six. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Having grown up in this community really helps me understand where my students are coming from.

Physical Education is the most exciting class in elementary school!

I was lucky to have taught students in a district where equipment wasn't an issue. The students at those schools loved physical education because their teachers had the equipment to bring new activities to them each class. I want to give my students the same experience!

My Project

In the beginning of the year I tried to do a parachute games unit with my classes K-3. However, the parachutes that are at the school are so old that all of the handles are broken off and there are holes throughout the parachute which made it hard to use.

The parachute can be used for a variety of different games including cooperative games, tag games, and team building units.

I also would love some of the larger gator skin balls for some different games we would like to play in the gym like kickball and soccer!

The yarn balls will be very helpful with my ASD population of students along with my younger level classes for throwing and catching games.
