My Students

Our class is a Pre-K 3 year old unit in a Early Childhood Special Education setting. Most of my students have Autism and Sensory Processing Disorders. Our school is a low-income, Title I school.

I teach a Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities at an Early Childhood School in Texas.

My class has at-risk students based on income, English is their second language, or have special needs. My students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students have Autism, the majority are non-verbal and have Sensory Processing Disorders. Without a variety of materials, it is difficult to meet the needs of each student.

My Project

Teaching science to preschool students is as easy as getting them to be curious! Seeing something happen, a reaction, and saying, 'What happened!?'. Just because students are little and have special needs does not mean that they are less curious. Sometimes adults think these students are less capable because of a disability.

I want to put as many sensory, science, and wonderous things in my students' hands as possible.

I want them to put things together and take them apart over and over. Let's teach our students to be 'mad' about science!
