This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excited to learn and connect. They are natural storytellers and seek safety and inclusion. We are a community of learners and multiple languages are spoken. We honor students backgrounds and I strive to create a comfortable and challenging learning environment. Many of our students are from Central America, México, and the Philippines. Their families have been through a lot to be here. They have rich and diverse cultures. They value education and I feel extremely blessed to be their teacher in these early years of kindergarten and first grade. The transition to online learning has been rough, but we manage with grace and resilience.

My Project

I have been using the same LAUSD issued laptop for the past 6 years and it needs an update. Now more than ever we rely on our devices to research, create and deliver quality instruction to our students. We are transitioning to hybrid learning and having an updated laptop will help me teach and develop lessons plans without worrying about the device failing me. Our classroom and school community creates so much work, and we need reliable technology to continue to collaborate and create thoughtful spaces for learning. Any help is greatly appreciated.
