My Students

Imagine being a 1-to-1 school, but your school doesn't have enough for the teachers to have a computer. If you work in an office, you might send in a request for a computer and it, more than likely, will be granted. Unfortunately, teachers are not so lucky. Most teachers purchase computers, printers, and other technology for their own classroom. Integrating technology into my students' lessons on a daily basis is critical for them to be successful in the 21st century.

In my attempt to be a technology-based classroom, we are in need of Macintosh computer for my classroom in order expose my students to many different platforms; thus changing their world and allowing them to be the best version of themselves.

Many of my students don't have PCs, let alone Macbooks in their home, so they rely on school (i.e. Teachers) to introduce innovative technology.

I teach in a TAP school with 100% of students qualifying for free/reduced price lunch program in an urban neighborhood. My students are an amazing group of sixth-grade students in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As a teacher here, we often spend large amounts of our personal money buying materials, for our classrooms.

My Project

This Macbook will make a difference in my classroom because it will allow students to become familiar with technology that they are not accustomed to. And as they become adept at using Macbooks, we will begin to use the Apple software in order to create projects that will deepen their understanding of the lessons we learn.

Over the last few years, I have become a paperless classroom.

My students create different types of multimedia presentations, many of which call for adding music, graphics, etc. Up until this point, they have been using Chromebooks, but it is apparent that those computers are limited in what they can do on a multimedia front. A Macbook would enable students to bring their presentations "to life." Students will have daily access to the Macbook to not only complete research and analysis assignments, but also the students will be able to create projects in iPhoto, iMovie, and iBook... something many of them have never done.
