This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am the teacher of a fantastic group of 5th and 6th graders! They are hardworking and dedicated, but, most importantly, they want to learn. We are a community of learners, and they understand that learning is a two-way street; I learn from them, and they learn from me.
My Project
One way to promote social justice in the classroom can also be done through math. Many of my students have what is known as math anxiety. As a result of this anxiety, they don't see themselves as mathematicians. One way to change that thinking is by using manipulatives in math.
Let's eradicate the fear of math by using manipulatives to develop a strong understanding of math concepts.
Having strong math skills empowers students by providing them with the confidence they need to succeed in life.
Math is everywhere, and I want my students to let go of that anxiety and welcome a new perspective toward math. Math is fun, and math is life!
