My Students

As a School Counselor, I support students in many ways including school-wide initiatives, classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling. I help students grow in the areas of academic, social/emotional, and career development.

My students are a diverse group ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade.

We have a good mix of socioeconomic status among the students and a large population of English Language Learners. Our school is an amazing place that celebrates diversity and fosters a climate of excellence. Our district motto is Students First and that is how I plan my school counseling program and initiatives.

My Project

I would like to offer Lunch & Learn Small Groups to my upper elementary female students. Our girls struggle at times with friendship issues which sometimes result in low self-esteem. I want to equip my girls with the tools to tackle friendship issues with confidence. Often the friendship conflicts distract them from their academics, so they will benefit greatly from learning how to handle conflicts in healthy ways. I will host small group book clubs during lunch time for girls who would benefit from learning and practicing positive social behaviors in a small group setting. The American Girl books that I am requesting are so well received by this age group that I know they will be so excited to participate. The skills they learn in group will help them navigate friendship issues with ease so they can keep their focus on instruction.

Your donation to this project with help bring my Lunch & Learn Small Groups to life!

Many girls in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will benefit from participating in small groups that will give them much needed tools for handling friendship conflicts and "girl drama" type issues that can be so distracting in the classroom. Bullying, rumors, and changing friendships are just some of the issues that these fabulous books present. Your donation would be SO appreciated!
