Help me give my students fortune cookies, snacks, play dough, glitter, glue, a Lunar New Year informational text, and prize box incentives to help them learn about, celebrate, and grow in the Lunar New Year.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our classroom is a powerful venue for exploration, information gathering, understanding, creativity, expression, and celebration. The students in this classroom, and their families have come to us from all corners of the globe. The students love to learn about others and share their own cultural customs and traditions.
Your donation to this project will help these young students embark on a cultural examination that will help them learn about and explore the customs and traditions of the Lunar New Year.
After reading Holidays Around the World: Celebrate Chinese New Year: With Fireworks, Dragons, and Lanterns, students will use use the play dough to construct snakes which they will embellish with glitter for the year of the snake Lunar New Year celebration. Students will enjoy fortune cookies and some yummy snacks as they create a fireworks craft with glitter and glue and set goals for the Lunar New year. They will work toward earning incentives such as the stress balls, Chinese New Year themed stickers, and stretchy snakes by accomplishing their goals as the new year unfolds.
