Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My goal this year is to teach my students about various holidays. Some holidays I am teaching my students about are celebrated in other countries. I want my students to learn about cultural traditions, celebrations, and customs celebrated around the world.

The Lunar New Year is a wonderful way to teach my students about a new celebration they are not aware of.

My project is seeking books, decorations, and activities to teach my students about the Lunar New Year!

My project has three books listed. One book is about the year of the snake, which teaches students about this year's zodiac symbol. The next book is about how to catch a dragon, which is a fun, entertaining novel about catching a dragon. The third book teaches students about the Lunar New Year and what families do in order to get ready for the holiday. My project also has a couple of banners, and paper lanterns listed so we can decorate our classroom for the holiday. I also have chocolate Lunar New Year coins listed to give my students a treat during the lessons, as well as Lunar New Year scratch fortunes to get them excited. I also have a snake scratch decorative activity so students can have fun decorating a snake for the holiday. The last two things listed on my project are for printing ink and laminating sheets. I would love to print Lunar New Year coloring sheets and activities in the classroom, as well as print off pictures and information about the Lunar New Year that we can laminate and use again and again. It would be wonderful to use information sheets over the years so we do not have to reprint materials about the Lunar New Year. We are very excited about this project!
