My Students
Let me tell you about the students at our school. They are motivated students. Although they come from low-income families, they continue to shine and push through many challenges. Our school is limited in resources and space, yet these kids have demonstrated great growth and are accomplishing many goals.
All the teachers at our school have very high expectations for all our students no matter their background.
We want all our students to have the same opportunities that many other students in urban settings have in regards to resources. These kids are amazing and deserve nothing but the best!
My Project
The materials I am requesting are to provide our class pet Luna la Tortuga a bigger aquarium so that she can live comfortably as my students and I look after her. Luna is a rescued turtle that has been part of my classroom for 6 years now! With every new school year new students get to share a classroom with this active turtle. The students enjoy taking turns to feed her during the week and they also enjoy reading to her when they read to a buddy during Language Arts Centers. Luna also takes part in a Science Unit where we learn about Animal Habitats, and Life Cycles. You might think that these materials will not create a direct impact with students but let me assure you that they will. Past students still stop by my classroom to check up on Luna. I think especially during these difficult and challenging times my students will benefit from having a happy, active turtle in the classroom to help them ease back into what school used to look like.
