My Students
Our middle school students are bright, engaged, imaginative, and really benefit from hands-on materials with a low floor and high ceiling. Our school serves students in Brooklyn, NY and is a Title One school.
Our students are artists, dancers, and musicians, and we want them to be able to bring that creativity and enthusiasm to our integrated technology program.
We're testing the waters with some cool projects, but need the supplies that will bring students not traditionally well served by the techie world into the mix.
My Project
We are developing a new makerspace program. The paint, pipe cleaners, feathers, and googly eyes will help ensure that we are meeting a broad set of learners with welcoming entry points and varied means of expression.
These crafting supplies will support our students as they develop projects with microcomputers (the Circuit Playground Express and micro:bit) in our developing makerspace.
The eclectic nature of the craft supply set is tuned to the eclectic nature of our students, particularly students who might not be initially drawn to the "techie" side of the work. Let's give them an entry point and see where they end up.
