We are a successful small school in a small, rural farming community in Indiana. The staff in our building work every day to create an educationally rich environment that pushes each one of our students as individuals. We focus on small group learning and/or individualized learning.
Our students are excited, creative and fully engaged in the learning process.
They want to grow and learn more about the world around them. The students come from a variety of backgrounds and home environments but they are always striving to reach their full potential as future community leaders.
My Project
My students are always reading. Earlier this school year, I had a project funded that gave my students several new comic books and the excited and joy was palpable. Those books are constantly being checked out of our library and my students are now buying into the idea of asking for and creating Book Wish Lists. My kids honestly love reading, writing, and talking about literature. I want to keep them excited by giving them new books.
My students need new series such as the fictional Warriors book sets as well as a nonfictional book series called Who was.
We are also asking for more shelves so we can spread out our library a bit and make it easier to find items. The books, I am asking for are books they have requested--they truly want to read these books.
These books will help my students by giving them exciting titles to read. As adults, we know how important it is to read. These books make my students excited about reading every day.
