My Students
First Grade is Fantastic, Frenzied, Furious, and Fun. We are always busy in this Fundamental Year of Learning. As we are building the Foundations for Reading throughout the year, we need to cover all reading areas Phonics, Fluency and Comprehension.
My class this year is filled with 24 diverse learners.
We have 10 ELL students, 4 speech students and 1 special needs learner. We are in a great school district which strives for success and providing the best opportunity available to all students through a strong commitment to the students and their families.
My Project
We are requesting a listening center that allows for CDs and Tapes. Having a way for all students to listen to creative, fluent stories will help the lowest of reader feel successful with their literacy and the more advanced reader to interact with more challenging comprehension.
Listening is a vital part of reading foundations.
Hearing an author or actor bringing a story to life will help foster an excitement for reading to last a lifetime. As much as I enjoy reading for my students, providing a listening center for them will give them 2X the opportunity to hear a story come to life each day.
