This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a very low economic status. Many of them come from homes where English is not their first language. They do not have as many opportunities to experience the world as many others do. They have limited resources in their homes and miss out on everyday learning lessons, due to this.

Many of them are eager to learn and grow, but some do not understand how to behave and act in a social setting.

With teaching you have to somehow capture the attention of many different personalities and learning styles. It can be challenging with this diverse of a group. I think that with different tools to use with learning it will engage the students more fully. Therefore, I am asking for some educational tools that they can use when there are learning a new concept.

My Project

I am requesting double sided fractions and decimal tiles, resources to help students learn the parts of speech and rewards! These materials will help my students understand fractions and decimals better. It is often a difficult concept for most students to understand. Manipulatives really help with the understanding of fractions and decimals and how they relate.

My students also struggle with parts of speech and writing.

This is due to English being many of their second language. So these posters will help with their writing and understanding of these concepts.

Then when they have succeeded with these concepts I can reward them with the mechanical pencils and the stickers. They really respond well to getting rewards. I think that this is due to the limited resources that they have at home.
