Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a fifth grade class of highly motivated, enthusiastic learners. We are in a New York City public school located in the borough of The Bronx. I work with them in small groups to help them meet their goals, as well as help them be successful in meeting grade level standards.

The families of my students struggle financially are new to the country, struggling to learn the English language and/or finding employment.

My school is a 100% free lunch school because the majority of the students qualify for the state's free lunch program.

My Project

Being able to work with LEGO will help students in their careers as young engineers. This club will offer these young scientists opportunities to learn and explore together under the guidance of teachers who are passionate about empowering young scholars to be engineers. This club will also allow students in the building teamwork. These robotic experienced will come and share what they are learning and offer these children a chance to help program and build higher level Lego Robotic machines. The student engineers will have opportunities to share what they are building with the entire school during the science fair and school newsletter. This opportunity will give the students a chance to work together as a team.

These LEGO set will be fun, engaging and challenging way to help my student learn for the 21st century.

As this school club moves into primary classrooms, the children will challenge and inspire others to create LEGO creations that move! It is my hope that by starting this club teachers and students will see their potential to create and begin challenging and inspiring each other!
