"Miss. K., this book needs tape too..." This is a phrase used all to often in our classroom when referring to the books in our classroom library.
We are an urban school in the northwest region of Denver Public Schools.
We are compiled of an eclectic group of cultures and backgrounds, but when the students walk through our doors, they are ALL proud Brown students on a voyage through their education. The students in my class are a spirited group of Kindergarteners who are enthusiastic to share their learning and social experiences with anyone who will lend an ear. The majority of these students knew some letters and sounds when they entered kindergarten, but most are now beginning to read and write... And they are not shy about it!
My Project
My classroom library is made up of wonderful hand-me-down books who have been very loved by previous classes here at Brown. Although they have served well for many many years, the majority of the books have tares and rips, and some have even been laid to rest in book heaven.
I would be so pleased to give my students a library full of new books in which they can enjoy, without having to tape up first.
Not only will this project benefit the students this year, but building our library will be a lasting investment for classes to come!
All the learners in our room appreciate any thing that you can contribute to this project!
