This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an urban k-8 school, from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Our students have a passion for learning and work very hard. They are energetic, enthusiastic, and full of creative ideas.

My Project
In March 2020, as our schools shut down due to the Coronavirus, I realized that my students were struggling with remote learning. They missed the interactions with their classmates and the ability to show their work to one another.
I started using the free version of Nearpod - an interactive slide show tool that engages students and promotes collaboration - in our lessons and my students immediately fell in love.
My students became super engaged in each lesson, excited to show their work to their classmates, collaborate with one another and answer interactive questions.
Unfortunately, as I created more lessons on Nearpod, I quickly started to run out of space. I created this project over the summer and was fortunate to have it fully funded and receive a platinum membership for 1 year, allowing me enough space to create all of the interactive Nearpod lessons I needed for the school year. It was so beneficial for both my classes since my students were all fully remote learning. It gave students a platform to show their work, it allowed me to see my students way of thinking and the methods they used to solve various math problems.
Having the use of Nearpod, my students were able to streamline their learning through module based instruction that included virtual field trips, videos, reading materials, polls, questions, and collaboration. Students were able to self pace or interact with the class during a teacher led Nearpod lesson.
I would love to continue using Nearpod next year! It is a great platform to use in-person and remotely. Please help me give my students this wonderful learning experience!
