Loving Literacy

Help me give my students materials to teach skills they need strengthened and close the achievement gap. The Reading Comprehension Games Library can help students practice these essential skills while having fun.

My Students

I work with students ages 4-11 years old. My students are hard workers, curious, and creative! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions.

They love to have fun while learning!

My students love reading! Sometimes my students struggle with concepts and need extra help, but they never give up. I admire the grit and perseverance for learning. They always look forward to learning new skills and keep it positive.

My Project

Practice makes perfect! Literacy games make reading fun and gives students a new way to enhance their beginning literacy skills. Foam dice will allow students to take writing projects and turn them into a game with read/write and respond activities.

These donations will provide students with a motivation to learn!My students need intervention materials to help close the achievement gap so they don't fall behind.

Recent budget cuts have prevented my school from buying new learning materials for students.

When playing games, students become more engaged in their learning, taught content is reinforced and class positivity is increased. By applying a range of strategies in a game, students are able to use their working memory to solve problems, increasing their mental cognition. Stimulating the brain with strategies in a game can be a great brain workout! As an alternative to worksheets, games can be used as a less stressful way for students to demonstrate their knowledge, skill and understanding of a topic. Being less stressed will help students to have a more positive perception of their learning environment and give a true indication of their own learning.
