Loving Literacy and Reading to Learn

My students need engaging resources to practice comprehension, fluency, and reading strategy skills.

My Students

Our Elementary School is in an inner city district and is considered a Title 1 school. My students come from a variety of social and economical backgrounds. They have struggles and successes throughout the day. The classroom is compromised of those that are special ed, bilingual, as well as talented and gifted. The students all have one thing in common, they all want to succeed in fourth grade and are looking for the stability of routine oriented and engaging classroom.

My Project

My students have some limited resources that can be used during Guided Reading time. I would love for my students to have some activities that make learning fun. The project requests close reading comprehension centers to use in Guided Reading groups and teaching cards that can be used while they are independently working during Guided Reading time.

This project will improve my student's reading by delivering a variety of comprehension skills necessary to help enforce what they are learning in order to become stronger readers.

In developing student's thinking skills, they will enhance their ability to lead discussions, support one another, and develop collaborative working skills that will help them develop into individuals who are ready to participate in the 21st century.
