My Students

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss. Students of all backgrounds are submerged in great literature! They are learning new reading strategies to make them better readers.

My students are fun and energetic learners who love to read!

They come from many different backgrounds. These fifth graders love great and interesting literature! Some of my students do not have access to books at home, and they depend on my classroom library and school library to get books. By increasing my classroom library and providing books that are sure to engage and interest students, I can make sure my students have plenty of books to read throughout the school year as their interests and reading levels change. My school is very focused on literacy. We have launched a school-wide literacy program to help all children become better readers.

My Project

Children’s literature is valuable in the classroom for numerous instructional purposes. Students are required to read independently and conference with the teacher daily. By increasing their reading stamina, students become better readers. Without a diverse classroom library, I cannot give my students the resources they need to become better readers. Reading levels in a fifth grade classroom vary greatly. I want to be able to provide books that will meet the reading levels of all of my students. Your donation will also provide me with interesting picture books I can use as a teaching tool to model good reading strategies. Mentor texts are a valuable part of an effective learning environment. Book clubs and group discussions can be established with a diverse and interesting classroom library.

Your donation will help all of my students have books in their hands both in the classroom and at home.

By the end of the year, my goal for every student is that he or she is a life-long reader. Your donation will greatly help this happen. I've read that a book is "a gift you can open again and again." With your donation, my students will be receiving a gift that can be opened again and again. Good readers are better prepared for a career and/or college.
