I teach 1st grade students, all subjects in a Title 1 school. I have a Bachelor's and Masters degree in Elementary Education as well as English as a Second Language Certification. I have a diverse class that has several children who don't have parents to help with homework due to language difficulties and other issues.
My students love to listen to recorded books. I have been recording my voice reading a book so that they can hear the correct pronunciation of the English Language. These ready made CD's would greatly help them hear others reading to the child correctly. The students can't wait to get their hands on these books and CD's. The reading levels have risen dramatically of children who use them regularly.
I need a listening library which includes a book and a recorded CD to use in the classroom and also as a resource to send home with the student so that the family can gather and listen to the book together, thereby increasing language development in the family. These CD's will supplement the audio CD's that I have already recorded.
You will make it possible for my students to have an opportunity to read and listen to more books than I could record on my own. You will enable them to increase language skills of reading, listening, writing, and speaking!
