Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from high poverty and low income backgrounds. They don't get many opportunities that a lot of other kids might get. They are hardworking students just with a few more obstacles to climb.

I want to provide them with many opportunities, experiences, and the tools needed to be successful regardless of the environment that they are in.

My school does its best to provide the students with what they need, but cannot always meet the demands. We are challenged to bridge the gaps that our students may have.

My Project

My kids are in need of some new books. After teaching for 15 years, a lot of my books are recycled. We are the foundation for lifelong learners and lovers of reading. They need books so that they can become fluent in their reading. The majority of the books that my students have access to are not on their level. These books will be used in our classroom library, as well as used in small group interventions.

Majority of my students don't have access to many books at home.

Most of the times, what the students get at school is the on exposure that they get on a daily basis. What a great way for the students to have books that are easy for them to read, and make those connections that we work endlessly to spark in their worlds. Also, the art trays will be used to help with transitions in workstations as well as help keep the students organized when they are working on assignments in class.
