This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations, because they have not read Gregor the Overlander. Filled with excitement and adventure, I know my students will love it!

Students from my school come from poor, hard-working families who often do not have the time to read with their children.

Busy providing for their family, parents resort to educators to teach most of life's important lessons. Reading together, I can help students discover those lessons and make the right choices.

My Project

With 25 copies I will be able to facilitate small literature circles on the book focusing on important grammar skills and extending through writing. Afterward, I plan on sharing my copies with other 6th grade homerooms so that all students have the opportunity to discover this terrific book.

Second language learners do not often get the support needed at home to be successful.

Reading together I plan on filling in those gaps so they are not at a disadvantage anymore, rather ahead of the curve!
