This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Listening to stories and music is essential for my students!

My K-8 school is in the inner city of a large urban area, where 99% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are 60% Latino and 40% African-American. My students have limited opportunities beyond their neighborhood and I like to expose them to rich experiences.

My Project

My students need two boom boxes and two SD memory cards. My students will be able to have a listening center where they will be able to listen to audiobooks and different types of music in my classroom. I plan to also have phonics songs on the SD cards, so students who need extra help with their letter sounds can use the boom boxes.

I will create a learning center with these boom boxes as well as use one of them for whole class listening.

My students will be exposed to different types of music, audiobooks and sounds of letters that will improve learning and reading skills.
