My Students
I have the most amazing second and third graders you have ever met. Despite the hardships they face every day in our Title I community school in which they attend, these students prosper in everything they do.
My students come to school every day, after enduring many hardships at home, with the biggest smiles on their faces.
They are not only smart, but they are fun and energetic. They are always ready to learn and take it upon themselves to get ready for learning every day.
How do I describe my second and third grade students as a whole when each one is so amazingly unique? They impress me on a daily basis and I feel honored to be their teacher. They appreciate everything around them and are so eager to learn new things. Their inquisitive questions inspire me every day.
My Project
Reading is used through ALL subject areas throughout the day. The pandemic caused reading levels to drop in many of my students. As I look around the classroom I see their frustration and their former love of reading, gone. I would love to give them the opportunity to fall in love with reading again. This listening center will allow them to track words in a nonfiction and fiction texts, which in turn will help them read new and unfamiliar words. They will be able to read along with the CD until they are able to read the texts themselves. This will bring back their confidence and love of reading. I also teach ENL students and this listening center will expand their knowledge of the English language.
