My Students
We have a diverse group of students including ELL and low-income families. I want to encourage more reading and discussion so my students can experience the world through literature.
Topics such as bullying and fitting in will be covered.
Social and emotional needs and skills are important in society today.
We have a great group of students at our school and they need to see that the world is a much bigger place than our small town. It's a whole different world out there!
My Project
I’m trying to instill a love of reading with a group of students who don’t typically love books. We will be reading them in a small group setting. This will give the students an opportunity for discussion and a way to encourage them to voice their opinions and interpretation of the book. The books I have chosen are high interest. The students can laugh, cry, and relate to the characters in the books. Getting kids interested in reading will help them be better citizens and encourages them to participate and voice opinions. Books are a great way to help children experience the world and use their imagination!
