Help me give my students new, relatable books to help them elevate their reading/comprehension skills as well as expand their vocabularies.

My Project

Love of literature feeds the soul just as much as it feeds the mind! However, it's much easier to develop a love for reading when the books are more relatable. My 81 students struggle to read at grade level. They also struggle to connect to the books that were provided for our classroom library. They rush to grab the books with characters that look like them or books about their own special interests. We have very few books like this and even fewer dollars to purchase new books. Simply put, representation is key and we need more of it!

Brilliance is budding in our 5th grade class!

They have already grown so much this year and I'm so proud of them! However, we still have a ways to go before all of our kiddos are reading at grade level or higher. They are proud of the progress they have made so far but know they still have work to do. My students are motivated and ready to continue their growth!
