My Project
As a veteran teacher, I have noticed that 5 and 6-year-olds fine and gross motor skill sets have diminished with the onset of Covid restrictions. They need extra attention in this area to develop the skills needed to progress in handwriting and daily duties. My students thrive in a fun-loving environment that allows each one to blossom on their own level, at their own time.
The requested resources will specifically encourage the development of motor skills that are lacking at the present time.
Some examples of the requested resources include magnetic building games that will specifically target the use of both fine and gross motor skills.
The remote control gear-bots will be used during Center Time to encourage students to use fine motor skills. This goal will be reached because student will have to assemble the gears, claws and heads to the motorized base. It will also promote creativity in constructing personalized robots.
The flex-space comfy floor seats will also be utilized during Center Time. The main purpose will be used for one-on-one iPad instruction. My students will enjoy sitting in a flex-seat rather than at their regular desks. The goal is that these versatile seats will give students a different type of learning environment through-out the day. Many of the apps on my classroom iPads include letter tracing. Correctly tracing letters is another fine-motor skill that needs to be honed in during the Kindergarten year.
It is my opinion that a happy and well-functioning child will be able to learn in a more relaxed environment. My hope is that these resources will provide this.
