Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My PreK students are in their first year of a PreK-5 Spanish Immersion program. The students come from English, Spanish, and other language backgrounds. Our wonderful program has been in existence since the early 1990s but added PreK in 2004. It is a unique opportunity to learn a second language while focusing on social-emotional development and kindergarten readiness in a public school setting. Our goal is to foster bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism that will last our students a lifetime.
My Project
Since my young students will not be able to attend school in person this fall, I would love to provide each child with a personalized, reusable tote bag that contains the essentials for making at home learning more fun!
Students will receive a set of rainbow-colored crayons as well as markers, scissors, and a variety of wipe on/off materials to practice fine motor skills.
All of these materials will be used as the children participate in live and prerecorded lessons to support the developmentally appropriate early education childhood curriculum.
More than half of students from low‑income households
