Love at Frist Sight: The Amazing TUBA!

My students need a 3/4 size tuba so that they will no longer have to take turns playing in class.

My Students

Do you recall the last time you experienced love at first sight? My middle school students sure can. For the very first time they laid their eyes on the shiny tuba, they knew this partnership was meant to be!

Many teachers brag that they have the best students in the world.

I don't need to brag, because I know that my students truly are the best! Hailing from all corners of the globe, our school is rich, not in worldly possessions, but with the wonderful diversity and energy of our students. My majority of my students enter the music program with little or no past experience playing a band instrument. For some of them participation in band is a high point in their day while for others, music is truly a transcendent journey into a world they never imagined possible. Their energy and love for learning make them an absolute joy to teach.

My Project

There are five aspiring young tuba players in my band program, as well as several other students who desire to join our vivacious tuba section. Unfortunately we only own three tubas, one of which is old and in rather poor condition. I feel badly about turning away prospective tuba players, but I do not even have enough instruments for my current tuba students. My tuba students have a difficult time practicing home, as they have to take turns taking home the two good tubas. Although having one more tuba would not eradicate the students' need to share instruments, it would permit more students to play in class and practice at home.

Could you imagine telling a highly motivated student that they cannot carry their tuba home because it is not his/her week to practice?

Personally, I do not like seeing that disappointed look in their faces! The tuba provided by this grant would allow more students to practice at home and would also give me the opportunity start additional tuba students in school. Please help my students. They are exuberant, determined, passionate and are madly in love with the tuba!
