Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a K-8 school with a strong English Language Learner and Spanish Immersion program. We are a community of diverse children and adult learners. We have an enrollment of 397 students and 66% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
The reopening of our library is scheduled for November 1, 2007 and we are in the final stages of getting it ready for our students and staff to utilize. After a year of processing the books in this library and getting them into the district's library database system, the books are ready to meet the public! Our library space, however, is in dire need of a makeover. The office tables and folding chairs currently in the library are not very welcoming.
We would like to see some kid friendly furniture that invites students to cozy up with a book or two. We are asking for funding for bean bags and benches to help beautify our library!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
